Dave Cannard (503) 367-1181

Dave Cannard has a degree in physics but turned towards his love of outdoor adventures for much of his career. He helped develop and manage aspects of the retail sales operations of The North Face and West Marine Products for many years and more recently brought creative estate planning solutions to clients at a small financial planning and life insurance firm in Vancouver, WA. Much of his work has been project oriented and he has excelled in bringing the right people together to accomplish exciting goals, whether it be locating, planning and opening a new store; running a charity benefit warehouse sale; exceeding a sales goal or solving an estate tax problem.

Michael Burmeister-Brown (503) 516-4453

Michael Burmeister-Brown was the co-founder of Central Point Software in 1980, which was later sold to Symantec. He later went on to found Second Nature Software, a company dedicated to helping protect our environment by contributing all profits to The Nature Conservancy: over 2.5 million dollars have been contributed to date. He has been involved with other environmental projects including the purchase of the Ecola Creek Preserve in Cannon Beach, Oregon, where he also has a Solar Home. In the mid 1990's he started NetControls.com, which was later purchased by Yahoo! as its first acquisition in 1997. After working for Yahoo! for 5 years (on its NewsTicker and Yahoo! Messenger - including versions for Windows, Blackberry, Windows Mobile and Palm TREO projects), he served on the board of WebTrends.

Many people and organizations are helping make this project possible. We'd like to acknowledge a few here:
We exclusively use Meraki Mini access points. They are reliable, affordable and can spread a DSL connection over an entire apartment complex. See our technology and projects pages for more information.
Hacienda Community Development Corporation is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization formed in 1992 to address the affordable housing needs existing in Oregon. Since then, we have focused our work on the long-ignored Cully/Killingsworth section of northeast Portland, where an atmosphere of crime and decay was prevalent, and helped shape it into a vibrant and well-served community. In addition to providing affordable housing, Hacienda has been instrumental in serving the health, education, and social service needs of the community.
HAP is committed to providing safe, decent and affordable housing to individuals and families in Multnomah County, Oregon, who face income or other life challenges. HAP offers support through a wide variety of programs and services. Their website is designed to educate citizens about these programs and services, and to share how HAP is working to build a stronger community.
Stephouse is a Portland ISP. They are knowledgeable, honest, practical and you can even talk to a human on the phone without going through a zillion automated prompts! If you need high-speed access in Portland, we highly recommend them. They host this site as well as providing DSL to the west end of our Hacienda project and the T1 to the Center of the project.
